Worth-a-Bit Angus Sale Entries

We have decided to spice up our purebred entry in the Angus in Action Sale Saturday October 20th. Our original consignment TXE 7Z will now be offered along with two other heifer calves as choice with only one selling and the other two coming back home.

1Z Worth-a-Bit Pride 1Z  Double AA Old Post  x  DD Elevation 127 9440   pedigree here   Jan 1/12

This has been a great calf from day 1. Her dam was purchased in this sale in 2009 and her MVF VRD Dateline daughter who was in dam at time of purchase weaned off a 685 lb Connealy Thunder calf in August (1st calf two year old). Deepest and stylish of the three.

Worth-a-Bit Queedy 7Z      Worth-a-Bit New Frontier x Stockman 365 son   pedigree here.  Jan 16/12

7Z was our original offering and she comes from a very good cow family. Soft made and free moving, she will be a great cow. She has the most muscle and pounds of the three.

Worth-a-Bit Queedy 14Z     HF Torque 171W  x Harmony Hill Abound       pedigree here     Jan 28/12

The first Torque calf to ever be offered for sale!  This calf is moderate framed, sweet fronted and very gentle. She would make a great 4-H project. She comes from the same cow family as TXE 7Z but her dam is a 12 yr old cow that didn't milk well this spring and therefore she is a little behind the other two calves. Lots of potential here.

Check out our crossbred offerings as well as the rest of the catalogue here.

Benefit for Buddy Loane-Saturday Night

A benefit is being held for Harry (Buddy) Loane of Kilmuir, PEI. On August 31, Buddy was referred to the QEII Eye Centre about a “skin tag” on the back of his eye only to find out that he has a malignant tumor attached to the optical nerve. The eye specialist in Halifax told him and his family that they could not help him, that they were referring him to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Ontario. He will travel to Toronto on October 8-11 for a consultation, more testing and hopefully, a treatment plan.

For those of you who know Buddy you would say he is far from shy, thus he has a huge involvement in the local and farming community. He’s been a 4-H Club Leader and a District Representative, a Director of the PEI Cattlemen’s Assoc., president of the PEI Swine Assoc., Director of the Dundas Plowing Match, President of the Maritime Angus Assoc., Angus Rep. on the Provincial Exhibition Board, and Director of The Canadian Angus Assoc. Two years ago, he received a 50 year award from the Canadian Angus Assoc. Buddy is retired now, but used to be a bus driver for the Eastern School District, Unit #4. Buddy and Bev have been together for 43 years of marriage, farming, 2 children, 4 grand-children, diabetes, 3 heart-attacks and now this new challenge.

Family, friends and loved ones will be holding a benefit on October 13th, 2012 at the Murray River Hall from 7pm till 10pm. There will be lots of local talent such as Kim Albert, Garnet Buell, Neil Matthews, Charlie Hanson and many more. Today, we are asking you to make this benefit a success, as the family is encountering mounting travel expenses for treatment. Enjoy a 50/50 draw, auction, great lunch and wonderful entertainment. Food donations towards the lunch are also encouraged. Admission is $5.00 each and donations at the door are gratefully accepted and appreciated. All proceeds from the event will be given to the Guest of Honor. Please contact Garnet Buell at 902-962-3846, Allison Ings 902-651-2781 or Kim Albert 902-672-2409
