Remembering Buddy Loane

The PEI Angus Association would like to extend condolences to the family of long time Angus breeder Buddy Loane.  Below is the obituary.  Completion of arrangements have been entrusted to Hillsboro Funeral Home. Passed peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the QEII, Halifax, of Buddy Loane of Kilmuir, age 72 years.

Beloved husband of Beverly Ruth Loane (nee MacKinnon) and devoted father of Wade Loane (Colleen Bacon) and Laurie Loane. Buddy will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Callie McAulay and Keira Loane (Laurie), Molly and Chloe Loane (Wade). Fondly missed by brother-in-law: Brent MacKinnon (Peggy). He was predeceased by his parents: Harry and Elizabeth (nee Virtue) Loane, son-in-law: Terry McAulay and parents-in-law: Bob and Queenie MacKinnon.

Buddy spent 22 years as a school bus driver. He was recognized for 50 years of being an Angus breeder and served as Director of the Canadian Angus Association for two terms. He was also recognized for 35 years of service with PEI 4-H.

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford for visitation Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 6 - 9 PM. An Irish Send-Off will be held Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 6 - 10 PM at the Farm Centre, 420 University Avenue, Charlottetown. Interment will take place later at the Brooklyn Cemetery.

Family flowers only.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to the Brooklyn Cemetery Fund or to PEI 4-H.

Due to allergies, the family requests no scents.

Purebred Angus Yearling Bull for Sale

MKHF Diplomat 604D has been on winter test at Dixon Farms.  He has been fed a high forage diet to promote growth and development. He is a son of SAV International 2020, a bull recognized for his easy calving and performance. MKHF Diplomat has an average daily gain of 3.64 lbs and on March 14th he weighed 1,330 lbs (birthdate Jan 30/16).  He has above average EPDs for Rib Eye Area, Carcass Weight and Marbling. He should be eligible for a bonus under the Department of Agriculture livestock program.
